Ellie Jane Goulding is a British woman born on December 30, 1986. Tracey Goulding Summers is her mother. Her father Arthur Goulding comes from a funeral home-based family. Goulding was born in the year 2000. She has two sisters, Isabel and Jordan. The brother of her is Alex. Alex is her brother who plays bass for the Hereford group. When she was a child she was encouraged by her mother to pursue a career in the piano by her mother. At the age of nine, old, she started learning to play the clarinet. At 14, she started creating her first music however she didn't begin seriously pursuing songwriting till her time in college. Goulding discovered a love for electronic music while taking classes. Through MySpace she made contact with the record producer Frankmusik and, with the help of Frankmusik she developed her own style of folktronica. The singer was discovered at the time by scout Jamie Lillywhite, who initially was her manager prior to transitioning to the position of A.&R. at a university talent competition. Lillywhite later connected her with Starsmith an artist producer who assisted with the 15th of November, 2009 publication of her album Under The Sheets. Starsmith later collaborated on Lights. In spite of the fact that they had released Under The Sheets under an independent label Neon Gold Records, Polydor Records was already holding her contract.
